  • You're here, and we love that for us.

Graveside has forged an incredible community over the last eight months. This is in large due to Hannah's hard work operating our Threads account, which got the ball rolling. Now, here we are. I've not only gotten to work some incredibly talented authors, but also made a lot of friends. I love our weird little family.

I share a lot of info in Discord already, things about acquisitions, covers, distribution, sales. It's important to us our authors are kept in the loop. We're a small press and we have growing pains like all presses do, so being transparent about our processes is integral in maintaining trust between GSP and our authors.

So, I want to continue that trend here on FourthWall. Not just shoving info at you, though, I also want to share fun and cool stuff. I want you to get something for your memberships.

If there are things you want to see, be it blog post topics, interviews, Q&A sessions, unique products, etc., please let us know.

There are several purposes to our FourthWall:

    1. We wanted a place to host all our for sale items in one easy, central location--signed print books, ebooks, merch. It felt like some of the things we offered previously were getting lost in the shuffle.
    2. Ebooks at better rates! Because FourthWall takes significantly less per digital sale, we're able to offer ebooks for lower prices while still making more per sale. Buying direct from us will be a three-way benefit between reader, author, and publisher.
    3. Money. I know, I know. It sounds crass when I say it like that. But we're a small press, and we're striving to put the best we can into production and marketing. Which...gets expensive. (Maybe I should do a post about the costs that go into each book?) We aren't yet making a profit (which isn't unusual for a new business). Our hope is for the shop's income to go back into the press toward our editors, cover artists, marketing, events, and more. Your purchases will actively benefit the press, its authors, and our future.
    4. Shift in the publishing industry. Let's face it, Amazon makes this sh*t hard. The chokehold they have on digital book sales (and print, alongside IngramSpark) hits indie authors and small presses really hard. More and more authors are pushing back, trying to find ways to circumvent these avenues and bring some of the power back to us. Our authors are the ones pouring their time, energy, research, and love into their books, they should be seeing the benefits of their sales more than a corporation.

I'm sure I could ramble on (I'm good at that) but this is the gist of it. Talk with us! Tell me what you want to see and how we can make these memberships (cemetery passes...?) the best we can.
